Very thought-provoking article! I agree with many of your points. I've also read deeply into the race question as well as women and the Church. I have similar issues with many things that have happened. I have a question for you: Do you feel that, overall, things are better now in the Church than they were before? How about in (Western) society at large?
I do, both in the Church and in society. With everything that's going on in politics, etc., it's easy to forget that there have been some generational changes that have improved life for marginalized groups (some of which I reference in the article—think about the desegregation of schools, or various glass ceilings that have been broken by women). It's not nearly enough, of course, and I would never suggest that we have "arrived" or that things are "done." But progress is progress, and I'm counting on these sorts of things continuing to make progress in our lifetimes, and as we hand them off to children.
I really enjoyed your beautiful writing on this piece!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your words. I agree wholeheartedly. I appreciate your ability to put thoughts and feelings I have into words. Thank you.
